According to German media reports, the German Interior Minister responded to the parliamentary issue of opposition legislators, saying that the German government does not consider prohibiting foreign suppliers from providing 5G equipment because existing laws are sufficient to ensure security.
According to the local newspaper German Business Daily, the government is more willing to use its existing control mechanism to solve any personal security problem in accordance with the provisions of the Telecommunications Act, instead of imposing a total ban on certain suppliers.
However, vice chairman of the German Federal Parliament's CDU/CSU parliamentary group, said that some legislators are worried because the German mobile operators rely mainly on the 5G new technology provided by Chinese supplier Huawei.
As the largest telecom operator in Germany, Deutsche Telekom is cooperating with a number of vendors including Huawei on 5G network development.
Arne Sch?nbohm, director of the Federal Federal Information Security Office, said: "We are taking a pragmatic approach to see if these companies can meet IT security requirements."
