According to the Ghana Business Weekly, GITGE , which administers the country’s fiber infrastructure on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Guinea, announced the official launch of the Ceiba-2 submarine cable system.
According to reports, the submarine cable system uses the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and optical transmission network (OTN) technologies of Huawei Marine. It has a total length of 290 kilometers and an initial design capacity of 4Tbps. It connects the capital city of Malabo to the Bata mainland. , and has a branch line connecting Kribi in Cameroon.
Not only that, the connection through Kribi will enable Equatorial Guinea to connect to other submarine cable systems, including WACS, SAT-3 and Main One.
Moreover, the Ceiba-2 submarine cable will also provide a backup network for the branches of Ceiba-1 (the direct connection between Malabo and Bata) and the African Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable connection to Bata.
