The third global cable production line of South Korea's LS cable settled in Poland
South Korea's LS Cable Co., Ltd. recently stated that it will invest 14 billion won in the Polish factory to build a new production line for the production of fiber optic cable.
The company said that the new production line will be completed at the end of this year at its electric vehicle parts production company in southwestern Poland and is expected to start production in April next year.
The new facility will become the third optical cable production line following South Korea's Gyeongsangbuk-do and Vietnam. This also marks the first time that Korean companies have installed fiber optic cable production lines in Europe.
LS Cable Company stated that the new production line was built to expand its European market share from the current 1%-2% to 10%.
Myung Roe-hyun, CEO of LS Cables stated: “We will win contracts from global telecommunications companies through French sales companies and Polish manufacturing companies. We will expand the market to Eastern Europe and more European regions.”
The LS cable shows that the European cable market is growing by about 5% every year, and France is establishing a high-speed communications network for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Italy is also increasing its investment and intends to expand its communications infrastructure to island areas. Therefore, the construction of a new fiber cable production line is to better meet the European market.
